ARDMORE, Okla. -- Ardmore's Market Street project is moving ahead.

The new shopping center, which will be anchored by an Academy Sports and Outdoors tore, has been in the works since last summer. And despite all the wet weather, there are no delays in the project.

"It's looking pretty good," said community development director Jessica Scott. "When you're going to construct in the winter, you always account for some weather delays. Academy's is really fortunate, because it's in the dry."

The Academy store should be open some time next month. A Verizon Wireless shop and a Panda Express restaurant will also be part of the development at the corner of 12th Avenue and Commerce Street.

Scott said she hopes new stores like these will make things more convenient for residents.

"It's going to be an opportunity for the citizens of Ardmore to stay in town and get what they need, rather than having to drive out of town."
