DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — Mr. Peanut (yes, that Mr. Peanut) made an appearance in Durant on Thursday.

The nation's No. 1 goober — sporting his trademark top hat, monocle and spats — has been traveling the country in his NUTmobile since August 2020. He's now visited 40 states and 180 cities.

Of course, Mr. Peanut made a pilgrimage to Durant's monument to the world's largest peanut, and he stopped off for lunch on Main Street.

"A lot of people will bring kids up and say, oh, they have a peanut allergy, so this is as close as they can get to a peanut," Mr. Peanut told KTEN. "I'm in here smiling bigger than they are, because I know i'm making somebody's day... and mine."

Mr. Peanut is headed north to Kansas City and Minnesota next.
