OKLAHOMA (KTEN) -- The Chickasaw Nation has joined the tornado recovery efforts in Sulphur and Marietta in a big way.

Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby has announced the Business Rebuild and Recovery Campaign.

"More than 50 local businesses in these communities suffered either total or significant losses," he said in a written statement. "This fund will help ensure they have an opportunity to rebuild in a manner that allows them to reopen as soon as possible while preserving the historic character of the communities."

The Chickasaw Nation is hoping to raise $6 million to help businesses in Sulphur and Marietta bounce back after the April 27 tornado outbreak.

The campaign's committee plans to release more information soon about how to apply for benefits.
