GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (KTEN) — A fishing boat with eight people aboard capsized in high winds at  Lake Texoma Wednesday night.

Texas Game Warden Shane Bailey confirmed that while everyone on the 19-foot fishing vessel was helped to shore by bystanders, one person was trapped under the boat for an unknown amount of time.

On Friday, Game Warden's confirmed that five year old Jasper McKinney died Wednesday night.

Paramedics administered CPR to that individual, who was said to have had no pulse before being taken to Texoma Medical Center in Denison.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. west of the US 377 Willis Bridge on the Texas side of the border near Juniper Point East.

"The wind was just absolutely horrendous," said witness Deann Crow. "When you look way out there, you could see something, and I said, 'Is that the waves, or is that a boat?' Later we found out that was the people they were looking for, and they were hanging on to that boat."

The National Weather Service had issued an alert about storms packing 65 to 70 mph winds in the Lake Texoma area.

The capsized vessel was pulled from the water around 10:30 p.m.
